Do I need Photoshop?
No. Muckup is a standalone Mac app. Use photos as mockups and place your design files directly. You can also import PSD or PSB mockups that hold a readable photo layer.
Does Muckup use AI?
No. Muckup places your existing designs on your existing photos. It computes perspective, light and finishes from the picture. It does not generate artwork or scenes.
Can I use AI-generated images?
Yes, like any photo. Erase original print removes the fake text generators often leave on paper and packaging.
What does folder sync mean?
Each project is a folder with Mockups, Designs and Exports. Muckup watches them: save a new version of a design and the scenes using it refresh. It is local, not a cloud service.
Which surfaces can it handle?
Flat surfaces in perspective, curved paper and sleeves, fabric with folds (t-shirts, totes), and cylinders such as cans, mugs and bottles.
Which print finishes are there?
Gold, silver and copper foil, flat or raised; spot varnish, flat or raised; emboss and deboss. Every finish reacts to a light you can move or match to the photo.
Which formats can I export?
WebP, JPEG, PNG and HEIC, at the size and quality you choose, plus a 16:9 presentation PDF of the whole project.
Which design files can I use?
PNG, PDF, SVG and JPEG. You can also paste with ⌘V, including a selection from Illustrator.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Everything is computed on your Mac. Online, Muckup checks for updates and, unless you turn them off in Settings, sends anonymous usage statistics. Your images never leave your Mac.
Which Macs?
macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
How much does it cost?
It is free during the beta. From version 1, a licence costs 39 € incl. VAT, for two Macs, and never expires. A year of updates is optional, 19 €. Beta testers get 29 € with the first year included.
Is there a Windows or iPad version?
Not for now. Muckup is a native Mac app.
