The Muckup app
Your images and files never leave your Mac. Muckup has no account and no advertising. It reads and writes only in the project folders you open.
- The setup travels with your mockups. Muckup saves a mockup's setup (surfaces, settings, masks) in the image file's metadata, without changing its pixels. If you share the file, the setup goes with it. A copy is kept on your Mac, in Muckup's Application Support folder.
- Crash reports, with your consent. Muckup asks once whether you want to help. If you say yes, a crash or error sends a technical report to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), stored in the European Union (Germany): the stack trace, the app version, macOS version, Mac model and architecture, and language. No IP address is stored, and no images, file names or file contents are sent. Off until you agree.
- Anonymous usage statistics. Muckup tells TelemetryDeck (TelemetryDeck GmbH, Germany) which features are used: a project created or opened, how many mockups or designs were added, which finish or effect, which export format and how many files. Each signal carries the app version, macOS version, Mac model and language, and a random app identifier that is hashed and salted before it leaves your Mac. No names, files or content. On by default; you can turn it off.
- Updates. Muckup checks muckup.app for new versions. The request carries the app version and, like any connection, your IP address. You can turn it off.
- Feedback. The Feedback button opens an email in your own mail app, with your Muckup version, macOS version and Mac model. You see it and decide to send it.
Everything is in Settings › Privacy (⌘,): Send crash reports and Share anonymous usage statistics.
The muckup.app website
- The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which keeps technical logs (IP address, pages requested) for security. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies.
- Muckup counts downloads, update checks and beta signups. It keeps the day, the country, the version and a visitor code computed from the IP address and browser that changes every day and cannot be traced back to you.
- Fonts and images are served from muckup.app itself. The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies.
- Beta signup. Getting the beta goes through Polar (Polar Software, Inc.), which acts as seller. Polar collects your email and country, sends you a confirmation with the download link, and gives you access to a customer page. No newsletter.
